The Storyteller

Starting his career as a journalist to heading the biggest production house of the country, to launching his own studio, Sandeep Singh’s tale is a classic case of dreams turning into reality. Sandeep Singh’s brush with entertainment journalism began with The Times of India group. 

Singh soon got a break to produce a show for Radio Mirchi and was also promoted as the Entertainment Head of the channel. But the creative urge to explore the world of theatre, scripting, lights, acting, direction got the better of him and directed a play Kaash (2004). The play was well received by the critics and the audience alike.  In 2008, Sandeep Singh took up the offer by 92.5 BIGFM  to be it’s National Entertainment Head.

During this time, Singh, partnering with SOL Productions, developed his first independent television show, Dancing Queens (2008) showcased on Colors TV. But having set bigger goals and wanting explore larger avenues, Sandeep Singh joined Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and under the banner, as a CEO,  co-produced some of the most talked about ventures like Rowdy Rathore (2012), Shirin Farad Ki Toh Nikal Padi (2012), Ram Leela (2013) Mary Kom (2014). He also produced a TV series, Saraswati Chandra (2013-2014) telecast on StarTV. 

Having become a name to reckon with, Sandeep Singh was flooded with invitations to be apart of various national and international film festivals including the prestigious Marrakech International Film Festival.

The film, Aligarh, starring Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkumar Rao, marked Singh’s debut, as an independent producer. He also launched his own production banner – Legend Studios. Critically acclaimed and well praised films like Sarbjit (2016), with actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda, Bhoomi (2017) with Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari and PM Narendra Modi (2019) starring Vivek Oberoi, the one and only biopic of the prime minister of India, reflected Sandeep Singh’s out of the box choice of cinema.

Besides the released ventures, also in the pipe line stands Safed (2022), Swatantra Veer Savarkar, Atal, Bal Shivaji, Godse and Subroto Shree, on the life of business tycoon  Subroto Roy. A women centric theme film, White to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, has been announced too. Treading the unconventional path has been his forte
